Frequently Asked Questions

Updated 4/28/2020

At Madison Industries and Filtration Group, our first priority is the health and safety of every team member and their families. The following addresses some common questions related to novel coronavirus impacts in the workplace. Please reach out to your manager for details specific to your site or business.

What should I do to stay healthy?

  1. Follow the advice of local health officials in your area, and stay informed via reputable sources like the CDC and the WHO.
  2. Stay home if you are feeling unwell, or if you are advised to self-isolate by local government officials in your area.
  3. Frequently wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds, especially after touching high-touch surfaces.
  4. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water is not available.
  5. Maintain a safe distance of at least 6 feet from other people.
  6. Sanitize shared equipment before and after use

Should I continue with business travel plans?

Effective immediately, we have instituted global travel guidelines. Please talk with your manager or HR leadership for specific guidance before traveling or moving forward with previously made travel arrangements.

Unless approved by your leadership or HR, do not follow through with travel plans or attend meetings/events where you feel unsafe, and do not put yourself in situations that health officials have advised against.

If I am ill and stay home from work, how will my time off and compensation be handled?

We will relax our time and attendance policies during this pandemic; please connect with your manager or HR Partner for details. If you feel sick, stay home from work. If you do not feel well, you should first use any sick leave or paid time off that you are entitled to, and then you can take unpaid leave. While the normal time and attendance policies will not be enforced during this time, in order for the leave to be paid, employees must use their regular paid time off options.

If one of our work locations falls under a mandated quarantine by local health officials or by Filtration Group or Madison Industries, or if I as an individual have been told by health officials to stay quarantined, how will my time off and compensation be handled?

Any employee impacted by an official recommendation to quarantine will receive up to two weeks of paid leave, after which they can utilize any existing sick time and PTO they are entitled to. You can take additional unpaid leave, if necessary. The absences will not count against the time and attendance policy. If you are under an official recommendation to quarantine at home and are healthy, you should work with your manager to implement a work-from-home strategy, if possible.

If I contract COVID-19, how will my time off and compensation be handled?

Any employee who contracts novel coronavirus should not return to work until health officials determine it is safe for them to do so. You should focus on getting well, and communicate with your manager via phone or email to provide confirmation of the case. You will receive two weeks of paid leave. If necessary, you can also exhaust any existing sick time and PTO you are entitled to, as well as take additional unpaid leave. When you feel well enough to return to work, speak with your manager about a return to work strategy.

My child’s school has been closed and I do not have childcare. How will my time off and compensation be handled?

We will relax our time and attendance policies during this pandemic; please connect with your manager or HR Partner for details. If you cannot come to work because your under 18-year-old child’s school has been closed due to coronavirus, you should first use any sick leave or paid time off that you are entitled to, and then you can take unpaid leave. While the normal time and attendance policies will not be enforced during this time, in order for the leave to be paid, employees must use their regular paid time off options. If your role can be performed from home during this time, please work with your manager to develop a work-from-home plan.

What will happen if there is a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in my workplace?

The safety of our entire team is our top priority. If any employee shows symptoms of COVID-19, the employee will be isolated and will be asked to return home immediately and call their physician. Any employees who may have come in contact with this individual will be notified and should plan to self-quarantine at home, following the guidance of your local health authority.

Our facility will be cleaned and disinfected per the CDC’s recommendations for Environmental Cleaning and Disinfection.

If closures, altered work schedules or additional work-from-home policies are necessary, your local management will communicate the details to you.

We will work hard to maintain the privacy of the impacted individual(s) to ensure that there is no stigma or discrimination resulting from their illness.
